Hillary J. Forbes, MSW, LCSW, LICSW, provides individual therapy to residents, and ongoing support for families faced with the devastating effects of neurodegenerative diseases. As a licensed psychotherapist, she is the program’s licensed social worker. She has vast experience in acute and chronic illnesses, neurodegenerative diseases, trauma and elder care in long-term care and community settings.  

Forbes believes in treating the whole person and tailors treatment to meet each individual’s needs and goals by utilizing cognitive, behavioral, solution-focused and psychodynamic approaches. She also leads regular support groups for caregivers, residents and families coping with neurodegenerative diseases.

A former Utica resident, Forbes earned an associate of applied science degree in Human Services from Mohawk Valley Community College before graduating Summa Cum Laude from Simmons College with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. She also holds a Master’s degree from the Simmons School of Social Work, specializing in clinical social work and psychotherapy.

Her professional areas of interest and expertise, in addition to neurodegenerative diseases, include palliative care, hospice, bereavement and family systems.
