For the First Time, Scientists Use Gene-Editing Tool to Edit Inside a Person

Scientists at the Casey Eye Institute in Portland, OR have injected a harmless virus containing CRISPR gene-editing instructions inside the retinal cells of a patient with a rare form of genetic blindness.

This research could open up gene-editing for other medical afflictions, and help to develop therapies for diseases that are not typically treatable.
